This analysis represents partial data from the paper entitled "Research regarding the management of quality of activities and agro-tourism services in the North West region of Romania" which will be sustained and published soon. The data were collected from National Institute of Statistics and processed according to the study purpose, namely the establishment of a agrotourist boarding house in a village in the county of Maramures. In order to accomplish this, it was necessary to analyze the tourism potential, types of tourism from the region and the local market. From the present paper resulted a multitude of reasons to set up a agrotourist boarding house in an area of a rare natural beauty. Almost in no other area in Romania you will not see traditions better maintained than in Maramures. One possible explanation for the high percentage that agrotourist pensions have in the total number of accommodation in Maramures County is the fact that it could be exploited the existing buildings that have been modernized and adapted to the current rules. The second explanation could be that they provide the visitor welcoming accommodation facilities, warm or even unusual for foreigners.

The paper aimed to present the evolution of Milk Production during the period 1990 -2011 in the North West Region of Potato is one of the most important staple food crops with a significant role for food security and a potential commercial crop in Turkey. As of 2015, Turkey’s potato production amounted to 4.76 million tonnes, and approximately 14.18% of the production occurred in Nigde and 8.57% in Izmir provinces. High-quality seed is the main input for potato production. Import of seed potatoes (rootstock) has increased by 145% and certified seed potato production has increased by 156% in the last 10 years in Turkey. The aim of this study is to determining seed preferences for potato producers in major potato production area, Niğde and İzmir, in Turkey. The study is based on the sample of 141 farmers (69 from the Central district in Nigde and 72 from Odemis district in Izmir) calculated according to the proportional sample size method for 10% error margin and 90% confidential intervals. Conjoint analysis was employed to examine farmers' seed preferences, using seed price, yield, resistance to diseases, production type, maturation time and storage time as the seed attributes. According to the conjoint analysis results, production type has found the first important factor in both research regions such as the cooking type in Nigde, industrial type in Odemis are preferred by farmers. This shows that marketing options affect farmers’ potato seed choices. Disease resistance has found the second important factor in Nigde and third in Odemis after the yield performance when buying seeds.

The small farmers are an important element of sustainable agricultural production, multifunctional agriculture and rural development. It is the predominant mode of agricultural production in the world. Despite its predominance in the agricultural structure, small farming encounters several difficulties. Therefore, it is hard to imagine functioning of small farms without subsidies for production, especially direct area payments. The aim of the paper is to identify the development trend of small farmers in Slovakia and to point out their needs in the Slovak agricultural business environment. Based on the results we can expect a further increasing trend of number of small farmers in Slovakia. Therefore, we need to take into consideration their support and elimination of barriers in the Slovak environment, e.g. to improvement the access to the land, support of the business of the beginning farmers, improvement the possibilities to use the project support, improvement the access to the credits and improvement the access to the non-project measures. The adopted measures should be prepared carefully with the aim to eliminate the misuse the financial effect providing to support of agricultural business.

The study assessed the climactic variables effect on maize farmers in South-western Nigeria. Especially, the maize farmers’ socio-economic characteristics in both the guinea savannah and rainforest Agricultural Ecological Zones (AEZs) were assessed. The adaptive capacity and socio-economic variables that impact on the adaptive capacity of the maize farmers were determined in both zones. A multi-stage sampling was used for the study. Ekiti and Oyo state were purposively selected for the study because they are the highest producers of maize in the region, 360 maize farmers were interviewed for the study. The methods of data analysis includes descriptive statistics, 5-point Likerttype scale, Livelihood Diversification Index (LDI) and Logit Regression Model (LRM). The descriptive statistics result revealed that farmers in the rainforest zone were older than their counterparts in the guinea savannah with the mean age of 50.9 years and 49.2 years respectively. The study revealed that maize farmers’ in the guinea savannah ecological zone perceived climate change as high intensity of sun with the grand mean values (X) of 3.88. Also, logistic regression estimation found age square, level of education, farming experience, income, access to credit, farm size and land ownership as significant policy variables of livelihood diversification (Adaptive capacity) among maize farmers in the study area. Therefore, from the findings of the study, it was suggested that government at all levels and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) should enhance the adaptive capacity of the maize farmers’ in the study area by providing credit facilites to them at single-digit interest rate.

The purpose of this descriptive-correlation study was to investigate socio-economic and environmental impacts of the watershed management projects in Mahabad’s dam catchment. The research instrument was structural questionnaire with close-ended questions which its validity and reliability was confirmed. The target population of this study consisted of all householders who lived in Mahabad’s dam catchment (N=2,458) out of which, according to Cochran’s formula, a number of 175 people were selected using cluster sampling in a simple randomization method (n=175). The descriptive results indicated the status of environmental, economic, and social impacts of watershed management in Mahabad’s dam catchment were at nearly high, nearly appropriate, nearly and low levels, respectively. These results also showed the main economic, environmental, and social impacts of watershed management were changing dry farming into irrigated farming, controlling flood, and attracting rural people’s participation, respectively. The results of Friedman test indicated environmental and social impacts were the most and the least amount of impacts of watershed management in Mahabad’s dam catchment, respectively. The results of correlation coefficient showed that there was the significantly positive relationship between land under cultivation and number of respondents’ household individual who participated in agricultural activities with impacts of watershed management in Mahabad’s dam catchment.

The study was carried out to investigate the relationship between socio-economic variables and rural women participation in yam production in Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT Abuja, Nigeria. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select a sample of one hundred and fifty (150). Data was collected through the use of interview schedule and analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression. Result showed that 43.3% of respondents were between the ages of 21 and 30 years. Most of the respondents were married (74.5%) with 70% of respondents having farm size of two (2) hectares. About 45% of respondents have no formal education. The result of logit analysis showed that farm size positively affected the participation of women in yam production. The Negalkerke R square was found to be 0.081. This indicates that 8.11% of the variation in the women participation in yam production in the study area is accounted for by the explanatory variables included in the model. Also, the chi- square analysis gave a value of 6.464 which is significant at 10% level of probability. The study recommended that Stakeholders should help in the provision of simple labour saving technologies that could reduce manual labour and energy sapping of the farmers. Government and relevant stakeholders should establish schemes that will enable women have easy access to land and other essential inputs. Credit facilities should also be made available and at affordable rates. Also, processing equipment and storage facilities should be developed and provided to the farmers to minimize waste and losses.
