STRUCTURAL CHANGES ON MEAT MARKET IN THE EUROPEAN UNION IN 2008-2014

The main aim of this paper is to classify EU countries regarding specialization and competitiveness of production of animal for slaughter in the sectors of pigs and cattle. The analysis was based on structural and geographical shiftshare analysis which enabled a classification of EU countries regarding production changes and also an assessment of structures of production of animal for slaughter related to the reference space, i.e. regional area of the EU countries. The performed research also allowed the identification of animal production structures characterized by specialization and competitiveness of production of cattle and pigs.
